When I wrote my blog retirement post I pretty much figured that was it. My creativity seemed like it had all been used up. I just didn’t feel like writing anymore and I had not done so in a while. I had not put together a book concept, a blog post, or even very many tweets. Now, I can’t even imagine feeling that way. I’ve dumped a lot of stress in my real life and started getting back into shape. That has done wonders for my creativity and now I’m back. Things are going to be a little different, however. There is no doubt about that!
One of the major issues I had trying to write for Epic Slant was that I was not excited about gaming. I had come to the end of the proverbial line when it came to MMORPGs. They just weren’t engaging me as they had in the past. I wasn’t playing them and that also meant I wasn’t leading Iniquity. Those tended to be the two things I talked about on this blog. Without inspiration, how could I write?
I am no less interested in gaming but now my time and money is going into games of a table top nature. I spend time playing card and board games with Aurelis and Klassi. We have picked up Warmachine, Dominion, Cards Against Humanity, D&D 4e, a multitude of independent games, and of course our own soon-to-be-launched-game Havok & Hijinks. My point? I want to play different things and I want to talk about them.
That may mean my original audience isn’t going to be as interested in Epic Slant as it used to be. I accept that but I hope those of you who are still around will stay and we can discuss gaming in general. There is just so much out there and I’ve found an amazing community in independent developers. I want to really get deep into that community and discuss their games. Feel free to join in. I’m building some great lists on my Twitter account (@ferreles).
We have a lot of cool things coming out of Epic Slant Press soon and I’m glad to be back to talk about that and just gaming in general. I hope you’ll come along with me. Either way, I’m back in blue and ready to write!
